The Perspectives parents initiative is a gold mine of information that can stimulate reflections on parenting in Québec. The first region-specific population survey of its kind, it specifically aims to document certain aspects of the parenting experience based on the opinions of parents with children aged 0 to 5.
The survey stimulates reflections on the types of interventions best able to support early childhood development actors at the local, regional and provincial levels. By combining the survey results with the realities experienced in the field, Perspective parents provides food for thought on how best to adapt the services available to families and further develop guidance practices and services for parents, especially those with low incomes and scarce resources. The data may also serve to reconsider the relationships between parents and intervention workers.
The Perspectives parents initiative has two distinct components: the quantitative component (the survey conducted with 14 900 parents) and the qualitative component (focus groups – results forthcoming). If you would like to initiate discussions based on the Perspectives parents data or wish to make use of the information, it isn’t necessary to know the data down to the last detail. In fact, we have developed several tools that can help you to appropriate the results of the Perspectives parents initiative.
The complete set of data is available, in French, on the page Publications and reports.

The initiative’s complete data can nourish discussions. The information can be combined with the knowledge and practices of early childhood development intervention workers and partners. While it isn’t necessary to have exhaustive knowledge of the Perspective parents results, they can serve to initiate or support discussions, as the case may be.
