In 2009, the Québec Government and the Fondation Lucie et André Chagnon joined forces to tackle an extraordinary challenge: set up an organization devoted to social innovation and collective action in early childhood development.
The ten-year partnership was conceived as an initiative focused on finding different solutions for reducing poverty in Québec and giving all young children an equal chance for a good start in life.
Over the years, thousands of partners joined Avenir d’enfants’ efforts to make young children a social priority in Québec, including stakeholders from community organizations, the healthcare system, educational child care services, municipalities, and the school system. Together, they contributed their ideas, experience, expertise, and intelligence for the benefit of young children and their families, especially those living in underprivileged circumstances.
Aboriginal community members and the major early childhood development networks made important contributions to figuring out ways and means to support their children and families, focusing their quest to tackle and solve complex social issues on prevention.
